MARKET RESEARCH

The trekking market has huge potential for smart devices

The current action camera market is more focused on short-time activities like surfing, so their battery life is very short. So that most of the trekkers still use traditional compact cameras. Ten million American trekkers enjoy their adventures per year, and they willingly spend hundreds of dollars to improve their experience.

LOGO DESIGN

  • Eagles are considered “the kings of skies” and messengers of the highest gods.

  • The shape comes from the eagle's wing as well as the product's physical shape.

  • Its simple and clean style represents its modern and smart functions.

Thumb-operation UI for trekkers

Users can see the display and operate functions with a thumb while trekking. To save battery life, it uses a black & white LCD display.

Determining the locations for each function

Started from quick mockups made from rough foam for confirming usability with parts' locations. For the final model, I made a 3D cad data in SolidWorks and printed out with 3D printers (body: powder printing / small parts: SLA printing) and finished up with spray paint.
